印尼媒体写道：印尼队在世预赛中的对手中国队又引进了一名来自巴西的归化球员，名叫塞尔吉尼奥。这位29岁的攻击型中场出道于巴西桑托斯俱乐部青训。
尽管塞尔吉尼奥从未与巴西巨星内马尔一同效力，但出自同一家俱乐部的他依然可以被称作内马尔的后生晚辈。在内马尔效力桑托斯一线队的早期，塞尔吉尼奥还在俱乐部的青训学院里发展。此后塞尔吉尼奥经历多年租借并辗转亚洲效力鹿岛鹿角，2020年才来到中国效力。
